Porte Ponderings:

I finally decided to go for my first bike ride on Sunday Morning.

On my way home there was a small, mal-nourished dog on the side of the road. I approached her, picked her up and took her home to try to find her owner and help her.

I’ve contacted the local Animal Shelters and posted her pictures, but she’s been alone for a very long time. Mangy hind quarters, sunken abdomen, long nails, dirty. She obviously had never been on a leash and doesn’t seem to be housetrained. She has already stolen my husband’s heart.

Free Speech in Florida?

“Don’t Say Gay” bill was passed and Homosexuality is illegal to talk about in Public Elementary Schools. Disney enterprises dared to speak out against this bill and have been punished for speaking out by loosing their previously gained right to self-govern. They were even warned before the right was legislated away.

Now Florida elected government officials are targeting bloggers.

Any Florida bloggers who write about elected officials will be required to register within 3 days of writing about said government officials. If they fail to register they could be fined $25,000 per report. Do Florida elected officials realize people will write about them who aren’t under their control? Florida elected officials only have jurisdiction in Florida. So this new law will not be applicable to the rest of the world. What will the cost of enforcement be? I suggest everyone write their blogs in Florida about government officials and flood their proposed registration system. Here’s my start: Ron DeSantis, Paul Renner, Fentrice Driskell, John Snyder, ….

Staying so close to a small airport you often look up and see unique airplanes flying overhead. This small plane looks like a toy in the picture, but I can assure you it was a full sized plane overhead. 😉

Gliders are often towed up and let go to find their way back to the airport.

On my 60th birthday I took a ride in an ultra-light and loved every moment of it.

Porte Ponderings:

Boat-tailed grackles are interesting mimics. They like to mimic sirens, bells and whistles. Often seen in huge groups swooping around open spaces or individuals calling to each other. I think these birds were probably the inspiration for Alfred Hitchock’s famous movie “The Birds”.

Just like birds are born to fly, people are born to follow their own paths. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for following hers’, but she wouldn’t deny her faith.

Today is my step-son’s birthday. As he edges closer to 50, it makes me feel older as well. Always full of energy, able to make us smile, almost on command, he is enjoying driving truck and living in West Lorne. Although I think he will never be completely satisfied and will always looking for that one thing better. Always striving for that extra bit. A quality driving him forward.
