Today’s picture is of a pigeon at Zephyr Park. A little ordinary and found everywhere.

Florida is just a memory now as we’ve returned to Ontario and I’m open for business. I have a newborn gift certificate that was purchased.

I look forward to my new grandson due in late June 2022. Babies are so beautiful.

The road trip home was thankfully uneventful. Georgia was very slow traffic through Atlanta. I followed the Google instructions and drove the HOV lanes, but it was still very slow going. The only time I’ve ever gone through Atlanta without issues was a Sunday morning at 4 AM. We did see a truck on fire headed south and the traffic was backed up for miles. It looked like everyone was safe.

Rickie and I have resumed morning walks with my sister and her dog Maddie.

People net fishing in Zephyr Park never cease to amaze me. They gather up there nets and toss them into the air then gather back whatever is caught, check their catch, then do it again. Often the birds gather to watch, just in case something is of value to them when the fisherman walks away. I love how the camera stops the nets mid-air or splashing on the surface of the water.

Today is Saint George’s Day. I’m certain my son is one of the Saint Georges. 😉

The drake wood duck always looks like a wooden decoy to me. Too bright and too beautiful to be real. Gliding effortlessly on the water. Posing for anyone that wants to take its photo.

Zephyr Park is a perfect place for these birds to make their nests in the large Live Oak trees. An ideal location for the young ducklings to grow into adults.

Easter Sunday

The Holiest of Days for Christians is Easter Sunday when Christ rose from the dead. Fasting and prayers continue on the 16th Day of Ramadan for Muslims and the 3rd day of Passover for Jews.

For all of us Dames, today is Nothing Like a Dame Day.

Ham and Easter celebrations have become linked together. Our potluck at Sleepy Hollow is having ham on National Baked Ham with Pineapple Day. 😉

I don’t think there’s any such thing
as teaching people photography,
other than influencing them a little.
People have to be their own learners.
They have to have a certain talent.

As with any art, you can teach someone the mechanics of photography and influence how they take photos. It is the individual who has to have the discipline to practice; vision to see; and sometimes just plain good luck to be at the right place at the right time to be a good photographer. I planted some zinnias in hops of attracting butterflies. Before the zinnias even bloomed, caterpillars chewed on the leaves and butterflies were trying to coax them open.

Holy Week continues with Holy Tuesday, as Muslims are now celebrating the 11th Day of Ramadan, Christians are celebrating the 42nd Day of Lent, and Jews are waiting for Passover Celebration.

Today is dedicated as International Day of Human Space Flight. We look to the moon and stars and look for a way to get there.

Eat a grilled cheese for lunch today to celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day.

April 12th is also my Paternal Grandmother’s Birthday. I hope she is enjoying it in heaven.

Porte Musings:

During this Holy Time we are remembering the 9th Day of Ramadan for Muslims and the 40th Day of Lent for Christians. The 40th Day of Lent is also Palm Sunday for Christians to remember when Jesus entered the City as a King, loved by all, on an Ass, the same way his Mother Mary had arrived to Bethlehem for his birth.

Palm Sunday

Today is also National Siblings Day. I’m lucky enough to get along with all of my younger sisters, but wish they would set aside their differences and enjoy being together again.

Only a memory of being together as sisters on Sibling Day.

Might as well have a Cinnamon Crescent and a coffee on National Cinnamon Crescent Day.

Actually, I think I’ll go kayaking at Kings Landing in Florida. A 2 hour guided tour with all equipment supplied through the crystal clear waters and wilderness of the Florida interior.

Prayer and fasting continues for Muslims celebrating the 6th day of Ramadan.

Today is World Health Day, eat well, exercise and take your vitamins. Be certain to get your 2nd booster as soon as you are eligible.

The garbage may need to be taken out, the floors swept or the dishes washed, but you have a good reason to let it be and read a good book. Today is National No Housework Day.

By contrast, today is my own private holiday that I always booked off of work as International Window Washing Day. A task to help me see the world more clearly but, can be interrupted by friends and family at any moment, bringing gifts and well wishes. As I turn 65 this year, my bridge pension payment is stopped and my life insurance begins to decline. I start the Old Age Pension and remember all of my friends and family that never had the blessing of growing old. My parents, who died at the ages of 43 and 63; my nursery roommate who has now missed 2 birthdays on earth; my favorite Aunts and Uncles; and even my Paternal Grandmother who died at 93. I’ll have a drink to celebrate one more journey around the sun.

Be certain to keep some coffee cade ready on National Coffee Cake Day just in case window washing is interrupted. 😉

The beginning of the fiscal year for many businesses is also April Fools Day. So beware the jokesters this morning and don’t fall for their practical jokes. 😉

All children love to jump in muddy puddles. So if you have a chance celebrate National Jump in Muddy Puddles Day. Or you can read a Peppa Pig book with someone young enough to enjoy jumping in muddy puddles.

Sourdough is delicious. So have a slice and celebrate National Sourdough Bread Day.
