Porte Photos’ Daily Quote: January 6, 2023

I am not afraid…
I was born to do this.

Porte Ponderings:

Just like birds are born to fly, people are born to follow their own paths. Joan of Arc was burned at the stake for following hers’, but she wouldn’t deny her faith.

Today is my step-son’s birthday. As he edges closer to 50, it makes me feel older as well. Always full of energy, able to make us smile, almost on command, he is enjoying driving truck and living in West Lorne. Although I think he will never be completely satisfied and will always looking for that one thing better. Always striving for that extra bit. A quality driving him forward.

Whatever women do,
they must do twice as well as men
to be thought half as good.
Luckily, this is not difficult.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

Today we celebrate all Women: International Women’s Day.

One of the things we can celebrate on International Women’s Day is Girls Write Now Day. Start with a pencil and paper or pen and paper or a computer keyboard. Write about your experiences and views.

If your not allergic to peanuts enjoy a peanut cluster on National Peanut Cluster Day. 😉

Millions long for immortality
who don’t know what to do with
themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

Continuing with the countdown to Valentine’s Day, today is Galentine’s Day. A  fictitious holiday created by a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation, now become a valid day to remember and celebrate all the good gal to gal friendships.

The Sunday before Valentine’s Day is set aside as Autism Sunday. Autism has such a large range of limitations or differences that is is called a spectrum disorder. My youngest grandson has been diagnosed as having Autism. The past year has seen him grow in leaps and bounds as he started day care then graduated on to Pre-kindergarten. COVID and the limits on groups has been extremely difficult for him. Just being with other children, he copies their behaviours and learns to express himself so much better. Luckily his mother works from home, so she has been able to continue his routines as much as possible.

Today is also Superbowl Sunday and what better day to celebrate Super Chicken Wing Sunday. Any excuse for wings. 😉
