Children aren’t just our future.
They’re our present.

Porte Ponderings:

Christmas Eve Morning and we’re all getting ready for our seasonal celebrations.

Presents are wrapped and under the tree. Baking is done and the cooking of the celebratory meal is underway.

We spend Christmas Eve with our children and grandchildren. Even though some might not be able to make it through the storm or are fighting COVID we still feel their love and are so glad they are safe. ❤

Yesterday the storm had some terrible results. 402 had a 100 car pile up. And 401 had a 50 car pile up. All roads were closed. It is a miracle that only 1 person needed to go to hospital and there were no fatalities. Our local Arena was set-up as a warming centre to help those stranded while they waited for tow trucks and to be picked up by someone.

Not so luckily a car with 5 teens flipped over on Thursday on Amiens Road, the day before the storm. 2 were pronounced dead on the scene and 3 went to hospital. My heart breaks for the parents who will have an empty place at their table or are spending hours at the hospital praying for their families.

Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy holiday. ❤

I like talking.
I didn’t know at the time
I would have to worry
so much about my hair.

Porte Ponderings:

I fu****g hate Windows 11.

I spent hours yesterday working on my daily quote in Fotor then my changes that wouldn’t save and when I tried to save my work the whole application closed and everything was lost.

Then today I thought I’d print a simple 4×6″ picture for my grandson. Well, the entire look and feel of File explorer is different. I couldn’t even find my files on my hard drive. And I couldn’t copy a file off of the cloud.

I was so frustrated I decided to restore Windows 10 and I won’t be going back to Windows 11 without a fight.

And my Windows 10 is now working better than ever.

Age is just a number.
Life and aging are the greatest gifts
that we could possibly ever have.

~ Cicely Tyson
American – Actress / December 19, 1924 – January 28, 2021

Porte Ponderings:

Mimosas in the morning, not the type you drink, but the tiny fairy like flowers blooming in the grass in the Cuban mornings. Leaves that fold up when touched holding the small bits of dew against the early morning sun.

Another day older but no wiser. 2022 is rapidly ending and people are starting their lists of what happened this year.

Unfortunately, 2022 may be remembered as the year of the gun. The Canadian government trying so hard to eliminate guns, while farmers and hunters are trying to keep their rifles. Still another 6 lives are gone this weekend as violence broke out in a Vaughn neighbourhood just north of Toronto. And the aged old question: is it guns that cause violence or violence that uses guns when emotions are too raw to do anything else? Homelessness, fear of homlessness, drugs, alchohol, despair, poverty, inflation, love or lack of love, abuse, interest rates, inflation, investment loss as bitcoin sinks…..

Porte Photos’ Daily Quote: December 17, 2022

I am the common man.
I’m polite, I love my family and I play by the rules.
And sometimes I get pushed around.
That’s my lifestyle, and that’s what I try to bring to characters.

~ Eugene Levy
Canadian – Actor Born: December 17, 1946

Porte Ponderings:

Like Eugene Levy the Turkey Vulture lives by the rules.

They wait until animals are dead before eating them.

They are loyal to their families and clean-up whenever present.

Common, yet protected in Cuba where they are important to keep things in order.

Often getting a bad rap they get cast aside, but always soar with pride and amazing to watch.

Happy Birthday Eugene Levy, keep practising your unique style.

No matter what happens in life,
be good to people.
Being good to people is a
wonderful legacy to leave behind.

Porte Ponderings:

We’ve reached the mid-point in December until Christmas.

I finally put up my Christmas Tree yesterday and within minutes Archie already found his favorite spot for the Christmas Season.
