The advice I would give to someone

No good deed will go unpunished.

After saving Patsie from the side of the road we returned home with her.

She is now walking and starting to take note of her surroundings. Harold has fallen in love with her.

Only to find out that our grandson is deathly allergic to dogs that shed hair. He actually has to use an EpiPen and get to ER within 15 minutes. We’re just lucky that Rickie is a non-shedding dog so my grandson is OK with him. At any rate, we have to re-home her. Today she is going to live at my step-son’s place with 3 other rescue dogs. I know she will be safe, loved and well cared for. She will also enjoy the company of the other animals in her new home.

It really is the only thing to do.

I’m so grateful that my step-son wants her and she won’t be going to a stranger. At least we can go to see her and continue to see her improvements.

I hope there is a special kind of hell for people who neglect animals as she was neglected. I would scoop her up again in a heart beat. No dog deserves to not be fed, deprived of water and neglected. Her nails were so long she could no longer walk. The groomer said leaving nails like that can actually break their legs as well as make their feet misshapen. Just imagine walking on high heels backwards with your toes 6″ off the ground and your heels on the ground. How long could you do it? Now imagine you had no choice.

It’s not what you do once in a while,
it’s what you do day in and day out
that makes the difference.

Home.

It’s so nice to be home again.

I hired my sister to clean my house before I got back. What a wonderful luxury to come home to a clean house.

I put my car keys in a safe place and it took an entire day before my husband helped me find them. They were in a box in my bedroom dresser. So glad he was able to find them. I love my little car and it is so nice to be able to drive it again.

The count down is on. 3 days ’til we start the journey home.

Yesterday I packed up my art supplies and cleaned the “Spare room”. Harold took his tricycle apart and we packed the first 1/3 of the truck box. The little refrigerator is clean and taken to our friends’ shed for storage. So is my bicycle. The afternoon was spent in the pool because it was too hot to do anything else.

Today the dogs go to the groomer. Rickie will get the whole works and Patsy will have her nails done.

This morning is the last day I go to TOPS in Florida. I’ve managed to not gain 5 lbs during my stay in Florida.

I’ve been exercising 4 days a week and feel better than I have in recent memory. Now to continue the work on my abs when I get home.

Many birds start out one colour then mature to another. Juvenile Blue Herons are white and often confused with great white egrets. White Ibis start out as brown and change to white as they mature.

Young women go through many changes as puberty progresses.

In the State of Florida it will be illegal to talk to girls under grade 6 about menstruation (unless they may show signs of it) and human sexuality . So how many young girls will undergo traumatic bodily changes without knowing what is happening? or be sexually abused without knowing how to describe intercourse? What a major step backwards in a forward thinking country. How many girls will get pregnant without knowing about their own body functions? And in a state where they are trying to make abortions illegal? Even the morning after pill will no longer be available in Florida.

Girls can start menstruating as early as 9, but you can’t teach them about their monthly cycles until Grade 6 (they are 11). Women everywhere should be outraged by this law.

At the same time you have commercials during prime time about the size of tampon required?

Wake up and smell reality people.

So like water off a duck’s back, shake it off and fly forward towards the future.

Less than 2 weeks and we’ll be on our journey home.

I’m looking forward to Easter Dinner with my family. 🙂

Everybody needs a chance to find love.

Porte Ponderings:

This is an interesting 3 some. Two turtles and a fish eating the algae off of one turtle’s back. It’s impossible to know if this is and ongoing occurrence or a one time fling.

Love is kind and love is patient.

Older dogs can test one’s patience, but they deserve to be fed, given water and have their nails cut.

Leaving them outside, loose, unattended to fend for themselves is abuse. If this dog is picked up by a stranger when it is almost dead from dehydration, malnutrition and neglect you should be happy someone choose to love the dog and have it treated. You should be charged with failure to supply the necessities of life and animal abuse.

When I found Patsy she was almost dead from malnutrition and dehydration. She could barely walk. Her hind quarters were naked and covered in sores. Her tail was like a rats with no hair and broken on the end. My neighbors offered to help with vet bills rather than see her so sick.

I took her to Planned Pethood. She didn’t have a chip and they asked if I wanted to keep her because this dog had obviously been abandoned. I said yes and had the vet tend to her. $200 later, I took her home with a bottle of medicated shampoo and gave her a bath. The blood from her open sores washed out of her and down the drain. With her nails now trimmed she was able to walk again. She readily ate anything I gave her, so I gave her little portions of food several times a day. It was 2 days before she had a bowel movement. I bought a crate for her so at nighttime she could feel secure and her incontinences wouldn’t stain the carpet. I bought puppy pads for her to use in the crate and a new bed so she has a comfy soft place to sleep.

So no I won’t let you come to pick her up and take her back. She has suffered enough of your neglect and abuse. There is no way these issues were caused by an afternoon where she wandered out of her yard.
