“I’ve aged,
but grown up?
No”

Porte Pondering:

Rickie is aging. This year he is 16. He was 5.5 when I got him and I’ve had him for 11 years. Even though he is aging (like we all are) he still often runs about like a puppy. Because he is small people assume he’s young so I always let them know how old he is.

Aging certainly isn’t for sissies.

The Betahistine shortage continues. Now there is none available in my area. So I will be trying a different medication to help with my Meniere’s. So I have one week of testing my blood pressure and waiting to see if it helps with the symptoms.

Porte Ponderings:

Christmas Eve is almost here. I’m looking forward to my family being here for our traditional Christmas Eve Gathering. Afterwards everyone heads home so Santa can find their trees and leave wonderful gifts. Including books.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. ❤

Technology has eliminated the basement darkroom
and the whole notion of photography as an intense labor of love for obsessives
and replaced them with a sense of immediacy and instant gratification.

Porte Ponderings:

Technology is evolving so fast. Now everyone has a camera in their pocket that is so easy to use we’ve all become photographers. I do have to admit that this quick shot of Rickie at the beach was much easier to take with my cell phone than with a full sized camera.

Porte Photos’ Daily Quote: July 22, 2023

Until we are all free,
we are none of us free.

~ Emma Lazarus
American – Poet July 22, 1849 – November 19, 1887

Porte Ponderings:

Looking ahead, August 1st, is Emancipation Day. It’s a day to recognize Canada’s history of slavery and discrimination. This date was chosen because August 1, 1834, marks the abolishment of slavery across the British Empire. In 2021, the House of Commons voted unanimously to designate August 1st as Emancipation Day.

I had the opportunity to do some head shots yesterday. In preparation I took these photos of my granddaughter and grandson. The white background is an excellent choice for pictures to be used on business cards. It also enables the easy background replacement for white brick wall.

Using simple equipment and daylight alone
is for me a pleasure and a replenishment.

Porte Ponderings:

Some days I’m not very dedicated to publishing Porte Photos Daily Quote.

Or life just gets in the way.

Today I was editing photos I took when visiting the Strathroy First Baptist Church with the Strathroy Photography Club. I’ve been trying to challenge myself by attempting Architectural Photography. Keeping the lines straight and finding unique points of view.

After owning my cell phone for 4 years I’ve decided to add panoramic photos to my repetoire.
