Porte Ponderings:

Maybe my favorite photos are taken when I’m wandering alone? The one I chose for today’s quote was taken early in the morning in my local conservation area. I’ve never seen a goose nesting in a tree before. She watched me carefully from her lofty perch. I later ran into another person on the trail who said the goose was also there a year ago. So I missed seeing the unique goose last year. How many other people walked past her?

I was lucky enough to go one a hike, by myself in Cuba and see the bats. No one else I was traveling with wanted to hike, let alone see bats. For me it was a unique experience. I’m glad I’m brave enough or stupid enough to hike alone. 😉

Election Day in Ontario.

In the 2022 Ontario election only about 43.5 per cent of eligible voters cast ballots. Hopefully more turn up today to vote.

We fight for Democracy and cry about Dictators, but so few actually exercise their right to vote.

So far only 6% of eligible voters have voted in the advance polls.

Get out there and vote Ontairioians. Mark your X. Yes your vote can make a difference.

New Year’s Eve and we’re ready to usher in 2025. Hoping next year will be better. ❤

So what has happened over the past year?

The bombing of Ukraine by Russia continues.

The bombing of Gaza by Israel continues. The last hospital was rendered unusable this week. The Genocide continues. There is no hope for peace. Wanted for war crimes the Israeli Prime Minister continues to authorize atrocities in the name of “self defense”. Food continues to be withheld. Medical assistance is non-existent. Children and civilians are being murdered either directly or by not permitting the necessities of life.

Trump returns as President of the USA in January 2025. Vowing to deport illegal immigrants and impose huge tariffs on goods from neighbouring countries. Not even in the position yet and he is ruling by chaos and rumours.
