Porte Ponderings:

We are cursed to live in interesting times.

Today President Trump is enforcing 25% tariffs on Canadian Goods going to the USA. He has mistaken Canadian kindness and honour for weakness. Expecting Canada to just sit back and take it. On the World Stage he has proclaimed that the USA doesn’t need our natural resources, oil, wood, energy……

Like all bullies, to make himself great, he needs to make others weak. He has no concept of honoring previous agreements or working together towards a win-win solution. His first week in office was spent dissolving agreements and hard won rights by executive order, more like a dictator than a president. Now valuable resources will be spent in the court system to determine if the orders are legal or not. It seems like a chaos technique to hide the true agenda.

A major air disaster happens in Washington DC with more than 60 lives are lost. His response was that the disaster was due to DEI. How can Diversity, Equality and Inclusion have caused this human disaster? Probably underfunding and over work were contributing factors.

As his neighbour to the north, we have no say in USA politics.

But he is working very hard to lose the respect of the world. The American concept of innocent until proven guilty has been flushed down the drain. Acting like gestapo ICS has started raids to remove “illegal immigrants” without warrants or proof. People are no longer free to go about their lives without fear of being arrested and removed from the USA just because they look like an immigrant and don’t have their proof of citizenship on them.

Promises are being broken internationally. All international funding has been cancelled. And the solution to the Middle East conflict is to remove all the Palestinians from their homes in the “demolition zone”….

Yes, we are cursed to be living in interesting times……..

Stop saying these negative things about yourself.
Look in the mirror and find something
about yourself that’s positive and celebrate that!

Porte Ponderings:

Cuba has cats and dogs everywhere. Although a little shy of strangers they seem to live in harmony with those around them. Nobody is worried about who’s pet it is as none have a collar or license. They just are. Although there was one dog I saw that was dressed up to make extra pesos for pictures.

Porte Ponderings:

Just back from a Cuba Vacation and busy with Christmas Minis today.

I have one customer inquiry to answer, but my ears have been giving me a rough time since landing. For some reason they didn’t pop when the plane landed. So I tried the home remedies on the internet starting with plugging my nose and gently blowing, warm compresses, then oil in the ears. The oil seems to have done the trick (or time) and luckily I’m feeling much better today.

There are so many statues in Old Havana like the one in today’s quote. A life-sized Chopin sitting on a bench just waiting for someone to come along and share a good conversation. My friend was more than willing to sit for a moment.

The Havana Walking Tour is a trip I’ve done before, but my friend had never seen Havana and I was eager to go again. The history on the tour is amazing. The Cuban People are so Friendly, but are also asking for tips so remember to take lots of American $1’s or Cuban Peso’s. This lady embodied the Cuban Spirit. So I was certain to give her 50 Pesos to take her picture. I’ve used her picture as a temporary profile picture on Facebook. I just think she is so amazing. The black and white version adds a type of timelessness while the colour version brings depth to the shades of brown and gold.
