Porte Ponderings:

Just returning from a 4 day trip to Tobermory.

This juvenile bald eagle sat atop a huge cedar across Hay Bay and waited for almost an hour before flying away the moment we weren’t paying attention.

The black bears were traveling in pairs during mating season so we didn’t do very much walking.

We did have a break in the weather on a rainy day to take kayaks out to see the sunken ship at the mouth of the bay. My kayak had a toad in it that decided to jump kayak after jumping up on me and giving me a start. I tried to get her to wait until we were closer to shore, but plop, out she went into the bay. If my niece hadn’t given us a guided tour I never would have seen the ship parts on the bottom. The parts blended in so well to the rocks below.

So glad I bought an Ontario Provincial Park Pass for the 2023 Summer Season.

Kayaking on the Old Ausable Channel at the Pinery once a week is my goal for this season.

Turtles sunbathing on a log are always a favorite site for me. These little guys let you get pretty close before they slide into the water and out of view. I need to buy a manual hand held clicker to keep count of how many I see. Last year the record was 149 Painted Turtles. Maybe we can break the record. On my first kayaking trip of the season we spotted about 50 painted turtles and 3 Snapping Turtles.

Porte Ponderings:

The count down is on. 3 days ’til we start the journey home.

Yesterday I packed up my art supplies and cleaned the “Spare room”. Harold took his tricycle apart and we packed the first 1/3 of the truck box. The little refrigerator is clean and taken to our friends’ shed for storage. So is my bicycle. The afternoon was spent in the pool because it was too hot to do anything else.

Today the dogs go to the groomer. Rickie will get the whole works and Patsy will have her nails done.

This morning is the last day I go to TOPS in Florida. I’ve managed to not gain 5 lbs during my stay in Florida.

I’ve been exercising 4 days a week and feel better than I have in recent memory. Now to continue the work on my abs when I get home.

Porte Ponderings:

The last weekend before we head home and the packing is starting. Purge items we don’t want to take home and eat the stuff in the fridge. No more grocery buying. Even though we’ve tried to slow down shopping, there are still some things we need before we go home. I managed to run out of denture cleaner and heaven forbid, Peanut Butter.

Rickie has an appointment for a final haircut before we go home and Pasty has a manicure scheduled.

I have a painting to finish and more pictures I want to take.

Goodbyes have been ongoing for the month as others are heading home earlier.

Those renting monthly are waiting until the end of the month.

Still others are just arriving for the Month of April.

Temperatures are over 85F every day and the lows are now only 70F, so its time for me to go home. 😉
