Porte Photos’ Daily Quote: August 12th

I don’t use the phrase ‘I love you’ very often,
but I say it every time I talk to my children.

~ George Hamilton
American – Actor Born: August 12, 1939

Porte Ponderings:

Similar to George Hamilton, I don’t use the phrase ‘I love you’ very often, but I’ve expanded it to include my children, my grandchildren, and my daughter-in-laws.

My eldest son always ends his phone calls to me with ‘I love you’. I feels so good I think I’ll start doing it too with all of my loved ones.

Isn’t elegance
forgetting what one is wearing?

~ Yves Saint Laurent
French – Designer August 1, 1936 – June 1, 2008

Porte Ponderings:

If elegance is forgetting what one is wearing, no one has more elegance than my grandsons playing in the local creek. Grandma Camp Part II started with swimming lessons early in the morning, then after a lunch of chicken noodle soup we headed to the park to play in the creek. My grandsons, with their nets, wadded in the creek to catch crayfish, frogs and other delights. Our hunting expedition always finishes with the release of the day’s catch into the stream for others to enjoy.

The day was completed with a soccer game. Well done!!!

Porte Photos’ Daily Quote: July 22, 2023

Until we are all free,
we are none of us free.

~ Emma Lazarus
American – Poet July 22, 1849 – November 19, 1887

Porte Ponderings:

Looking ahead, August 1st, is Emancipation Day. It’s a day to recognize Canada’s history of slavery and discrimination. This date was chosen because August 1, 1834, marks the abolishment of slavery across the British Empire. In 2021, the House of Commons voted unanimously to designate August 1st as Emancipation Day.

I had the opportunity to do some head shots yesterday. In preparation I took these photos of my granddaughter and grandson. The white background is an excellent choice for pictures to be used on business cards. It also enables the easy background replacement for white brick wall.
