But whether it is
going to warm your hearth
or burn down your house,
you can never tell”

Porte Ponderings:

On our recent trip to Pinery Provincial Park, we thought we would be the only ones at the beach. Then this couple showed up. They obviously thought they would be the only ones as well as he came holding 2 glasses of wine. ❤

Porte Ponderings:

Welcome spring ❤ We’ve had enough Winter.

As my husband said I planted my seeds in the greenhouse last winter (two weeks ago).

It was quite a project to repair the greenhouse. One of my grandchildren hit a roof panel with a soccer ball last season. As a result, the panel needed to be replaced.

Well, a couple of years ago, hail hit the roof. The roof panels on the east side were filled with wholes and gunk. Luckily the side panels on the east side are beside the fence and were like new. We cut plywood to replace the east side panels. We painted the plywood white on both sides for protection. This also made the inside bright. Then we cut the side panels to fit the roof. And Voila! New roof.

Then we took one of the old panels to replace the broken one. A good no cost project completed with a little ingenuity. 😉

“I’ll go anywhere
as long as it’s forward”

~ David Livingstone
Scottish physician, missionary and explorer
Born on: 19th March 1813

Porte Ponderings:

St Joseph’s Day celebrates the earthly father of Jesus. He knew he wasn’t the biological father of the baby Mary had conceived. Despite this, he stepped up and married Mary. Then he treated this blessed step-son like his own. Providing for Jesus’ human needs and teaching him to be a carpenter.

It’s a day to celebrate all the Father’s that stepped up when their biological father wasn’t able to.

“Character is who you are
when no one is looking”

Porte Ponderings:

Not only is is St. Patrick’s Day, but is the anniversary of my first day of work at Canada Post in 1980.

I’ve been retired for 13 years. I’m very thankful for all the people I worked with and met during my working years. I’m also very thankful for my pension. There were times when I resented the money taken off my paycheck each month. But now when the money is deposited into my account I’m glad it wasn’t a choice as the return each month is much greater than the monthly payments 😉

The weather this year is much nicer than that first day of work. There was a terrible ice storm. I had to drive across London to return to our first apartment on Berkshire Drive. I don’t miss the commute to work.

I’ve already purchased my Provincial Park Pass for the year.

“Money can’t buy love,
but it improves your bargaining position”

~ Christopher Marlowe
Poet and playwright
Born on: 26th February 1564

Porte Ponderings:

Yes, money can improve your bargaining position.

In the news today the Republicans in the USA are introducing a new Gold Card. For only $5Million you can purchase a Gold Card. The Gold Card will let you live and work in the USA.

Who said America isn’t being sold to the highest bidders?

I can’t wait for spring. Kayaking on the Old Ausable Chanel in Pinery Provincial Park. Counting the painted turtles. Maybe I can break my personal record of 149.

Today’s quote from the 1800’s seems just as true today as it did then.

Weird how the spelling is incorrect and the quote is split.
