The first Tuesday in August.
Grandma Camp continues. My guest this week is my oldest grandson.
Our Florida friends and neighbours from Sleepy Hollow are in Canada for a visit at Port Glasgow Trailer Park. I’m looking forward to the fish fry tomorrow.
The 2024 Big Bio Bash has come to a conclusion. I added 86 observations, 71 species, 31 have been confirmed as Research Grade. I was even able to add a bald eagle, osprey and hummingbird. Not excellent quality photos, but good enough for ID. I’m always glad to participate in and promote this annual event to help provide a good survey of wildlife in my area.
Tuesday is music day at Port Glasgow Trailer Park.

A solar eclipse is occurring April 8th, 2024. This is probably the last one during my lifetime in Southwestern Ontario. There is a lot of hype. Schools closed, parties, advise, warnings…. Like many celestial events the ability to see the event is dependant on the weather. I hope the skies will be clear. So far the forecast is good, but there is rain in the morning and this can change.
I am planting new seeds and I am
willing to learn how to grow them.
Quite literally. I’ve started to plant seeds in the greenhouse. Petunias, tomatoes, marigolds.
I also have started to brew Kombucha. I ordered a Scobey through Amazon. It’s amazing that it was delivered the same day. First batch is already fermenting on top of the kitchen refrigerator.
I also ordered supplies to start to make sourdough bread. I need to buy some unbleached flour. My starter should arrive from Amazon today. 🙂

My last walk through Zephyr Park yesterday for this season, maybe forever. It was windy, the water levels are really low and there wasn’t a lot of different bird species there. The wind caused an osprey to almost stand still as it was trying to fly over the water. It was a great opportunity for me to capture it’s image and get wonderful details for the photo I used in today’s quote.
I also ran into the couple from Woodstock. It was so good to see them again.

2024 literally started with a bang.
I arrived in Florida for the New Year’s Eve fireworks. This was the worst year yet for noise. On Penny Lane the residents had a huge display. Debris fell on trailer roof tops in Sleep Hollow. The Police were called, but didn’t respond. Then a box of their fireworks caught on fire. Police, fire and ambulance anxious to help broke down the locked gate at Sleep Hollow Park 2 before realizing the emergency was next door. They watched the flames for 45 minutes, took one person by ambulance to hospital, then finally doused the flames. I pray the person is OK. I hate New Year’s Eve in Zephyrhills.
But I love taking pictures of the birds at Zephyr Park. 10 pictures that I posted on iNaturalist were added to the Florida Birds Album. Not bad for my first day out.
I’ve started doing a Daily Tarot Reading for myself. Today was the Eight of Cups. ”I am ready to leave behind anything that hinders my spiritual growth” Unfortunately my Busch Gardens friend isn’t buying a pass this year, so I now need to decide if I should go alone, find a new companion or just skip this year. The Real Music Series starts next Tuesday, so I still have some time to decide.
