Some days you remember with such clarity as they are imprinted on your heart forever. The day my mother died is one of those days. One moment I was chatting with her on the phone and it seems like the next I was at the Doctor’s for my final pre-natal check and he was telling me my Mother had died. Of course I didn’t believe it. Harold came to pick me up and take me to Dad’s where I had to put on my big girl panties and help with funeral arrangements. Everyday since I’ve remembered my mother’s life. The joy she brought with just her smile. There will always be a small part of me missing.

I love starting things, but I’m not so certain I like finishing.
I enjoy planting seeds and watching them germinate. Transplanting them into the garden and caring for them until they bloom and mature.
Similarly, I enjoy planting seeds of ideas and possibilities with my grandchildren. Fishing the the crick for crayfish with a strict catch and release policy.
“No you can’t take them home.”
“They only thrive in the crick and need to live there so you can catch them tomorrow.”
“Yes, learn to catch them, hold them observe them but then put them back.”
“Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.”

In preparation for seasonal closure, I’m finishing 2022 Christmas Minis. Yesterday was very rewarding as my nephew and his girlfriend came for their appointment. We laughed and got some very good shots. Post processing went very well and the results were excellent. I was able to upload the jpg’s and give them some prints before they left his mother’s house. This morning was even more rewarding as I had 2 new reviews on my facebook page recommending Porte Photos. Such a wonderful surprise. ❤ This feeling is why I like doing small custom photographic work.
Recently I was approached to do a bigger project. It would have been quite a challenge to provide team and individual pictures for a local Hockey Association. Unfortunately the timing didn’t work and I had to decline the honour. Hopefully more opportunities will present themselves. My sadness from having to decline the opportunity was that these teams have a real need to have the photographs done and I don’t know anyone locally that can help. These young players deserve to have their memories preserved and treasured.
Next year I’m hoping to help with a Church Directory Project. Pictures in a Church Directory can help new members learn the names of others in the Church and can help established members learn who the new members are. It also provides an opportunity for people to have current photos of themselves.
So although one door has closed, I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of the next door.
