As a former Project Manager Event Organizers Day strikes a chord in my heart. Event Organizers, those take charge people who make sure the details are taken care of and the Event runs smoothly are recognized for their contributions today.

Even if you aren’t one of those born leaders/organizers you can still be a leader in your community on Make a Difference Day. Join a group, participate by volunteering your time, or just pick up the trash on your daily walk. Yes, the efforts of one person make a difference. Remember to keep doing those random acts of kindness.

What food should we celebrate today? National Boston Cream Pie Day. A wonderful 2 layer cake with a light cream filling and rich dark chocolate poured over top. Yes, Boston Cream Pie’s need their own day. 🙂

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

The G7 is preparing to have an emergency meeting regarding Afghanistan. It’s uncertain if Canada will be attending, due to the Federal Election. I say there is no more important time to attend and discuss the abandonment of human rights and women’s lives than now. The decision of the USA to leave Afghanistan the major determining factor in the conquest by the Taliban. Is the USA going to help them or keep out of civil wars and unrest?

My grandsons love playing in the creek. They laugh at me for calling in a “Crick”, but as I explain to them it’s too small to be called a creek. Just the joy of trying to catch crayfish, or minnows makes their day.

Like a light at the end of a tunnel, we have come through Harold’s Cancer Surgery and things are starting to get back to normal. He’s home and able to go upstairs to bed. The follow-up appointments will let us know if chemo is needed, but the prognosis is good as the surgeon didn’t see any spread to the lymph nodes.

We met his “new” biological Sister and Brother last week for lunch. Just a warning to anyone thinking about getting a DNA test from Ancestry.ca, you may not find as good of a family connection as Harold did, and the results can be upsetting. His one sister still doesn’t believe the DNA is right and refuses to acknowledge that Harold has the same mother, but a different father.

Harold and his newly discovered Biological Sister and Brother.

Already March 14th, the Second Sunday in March. Today is The Start of Daylight Saving Time in almost all of North America. One of the 2 days of the year when it is debated if we should continue to keep changing time for Summer and Winter. If you forgot to set your clock ahead last night either do it now or be an hour late for everything. Computers and cell phones think their smart and now automatically change the time for you. So don’t change them or you’ll end up and hour early for everything.

Being March 14th (3.14), today is Pi Day. That magic mathematical day to celebrate 3.14. Or as some would prefer pie day. Any excuse to eat a pie.

Spring is less than a week away and the weather has been warm (er) and sunny. We went to the playground yesterday. It was packed. With lesser COVID-19 restrictions the mild weather drew everyone outside. But the play is different. The children don’t mingle like they used to. They play in the park avoiding others and keeping their distance.

Today is also the 4th Sunday in Lent. The great celebration of Easter is rapidly approaching. If you’ve chosen to pray and do good deeds this Lenten Season, think of how it would be if you decided this should be a permanent change in your life.
