Porte Photos: Welcome August

August used to be a sad month for me.
As the days went on, the thought of school starting weighed heavily upon my young frame.
That, coupled with the oppressive heat and humidity of my native Washington, D.C., only seemed to heighten the misery.

Porte Ponderings:

August marches the unofficial beginning of the end to summer.

The second half of summer holidays for school students.

During my working years, I was lucky enough to spend the first weeks of August at my friend’s cottage on Oxbow lake. Then with my sisters at the same cottage. Then the cottage was sold. We all retired and my friend left for the west coast to be closer to her children.

This year there are 2 supermoons. Hopefully, at least one will be clear enough to see and get some photographs of. Usually they are obscured by clouds and rain. I’d also like to try taking some long exposure night sky photos at the trailer. The night sky at the trailer should be much more vivid than the sky in town.

Grandma camp is in full swing. Two weeks with my granddaughter are now complete and I have my grandsons in the month of August. Swimming lessons are underway.

So much to do and so little summer left to do it. If only July would last forever.
