Gabriel Lippman worked on introducing colour to pictures. I wonder what he would think about the brilliance of colours with the DLSR camera and the ease with which we have such brilliant colours to see and work with in our pictures.
I had put some oranges out for orioles that are still common at Port Glasgow. Instead of attracting Orioles these brilliant German Yellowjackets loved the oranges. The yellowjackets completely removed the flesh in each orange section and left a perfect skeleton.
I took this picture as part of my contribution to the 2023 Big Backyard BioBlitz Project. I added 108 observations. This is one of my favorite projects to participate in. You should try it next year.
