Be certain to sign your Organ Donor Card. Today is World Kidney Day. Kidney disease is a major fear for diabetics. The very things that allow them to live, in the long term causes the kidneys to fail. Although you can live with only one, once that one quits you are tied to a dialysis machine if no donors are available. My mother-in-law and one of my sister-in-laws died from kidney disease. Both were complications of diabetes. I have a daughter-in-law who has benefitted from a triple transplant: 2 kidneys and a pancreas. She is no longer diabetic, but will always take anti-rejection medications. My husband had one kidney removed due to cancer. Research into Kidney disease is important work to keep people we love alive.

Celebrate one of the first role playing game heroes. Today is Mario Day. I’m certain everyone knows Mario. That cute little Italian saving the princess, having adventures, throwing barrels, defeating evil and driving races.

Pack Your Lunch Day isn’t just for kids or people who work. Why not pack your lunch and go to your local park for a picnic? 😉

I’m a photographer, period.
I love photography,
the immediacy of it.
I like the craft,
the idea of saying ‘I’m a photographer.’

Changes. Some are good, some are bad. Every time I sign into my blog site the “Basic Block Editor” changes, the look and feel of how I’m inputting my thoughts onto the computer screen changes by some unknown god that keeps modifying my fonts and how it works. I’m not certain I like these new fonts and changes.

Lailat al Miraj is the Muslim celebration of the ascension of the Prophet Muhammad to heaven where he is allowed to see God in person and leads all the other prophets in prayer (including Joseph, Adam, Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Jesus, and John the Baptist.) He returns to Mecca he describes things to the Quraish and proves that he was there.

Today is also World Kidney Day. when we celebrate the wonderous functions of our Kidney, the water filter system of our body. My husband, a kidney cancer survivor is thankful everyday that we are born with 2 kidneys and only need one. My future daughter-in-law, a kidney transplant recipient, is thankful for our advances in technology that helped with dialysis until a donor was available. Please remember to sign your donor cards so others can use the earthly parts when you don’t need them anymore.

Dream Day started in Costa Rica by author Robert Muller. On a bench known as the bench of dreams, visitors sit with 2 stones, one in each hand, put their hands together and dream of a better world. One stone is left behind in the nearby garden, the other is taken with the dreamer so that they can remember the dream. During COVID-19 restrictions we may not be able to go to Costa Rica, but we could make our own bench of dreams in our yards or communities.

Tundra Swans are flying north and gathering throughout our local area. I went to the Thedford Bogs (with many other people) to see this wonderous gathering of the Tundra Swans. Yesterday was very windy so the birds rested for the day on the open flooded fields and feasted on the left over corn. It is amazing to see the thousands of graceful travelers and hear them chatting.

World Kidney Day (2nd Thursday)

World Kidney Day has a special significance to me.  My husband is a Kidney Cancer Survivor.  A 7 cm Chromophobe Renal tumor was found by accident when he had an ultrasound scan for a gall bladder problem.  We were very lucky, as this type of cancer is asymptomatic until it is too late for any treatments to be effective.  The tumor was removed by Dr Luc at London Health Sciences, the cancer eliminated, and no further treatment was required.
