If you want to increase your success rate,
double your failure rate.

Porte Musings:

Today we practice Random Acts Of Kindness Day. So get out there and do some random acts of kindness.

On a perhaps conflicting note today is also My Way Day. Although the two ideas could share the same space if your way is doing random acts of kindness.

A quick cup of Cafe au Lait and your helping to celebrate National Café au Lait Day.

The quote for today is inaccurate, as rates are portions of or percentages. It should have been if you want to increase your number of successes, increase your number of failures. But as I learned in University not everything is literal. My friends used to say put the book under your pillow and learn by osmosis. I never got the joke because osmosis is the diffusion of water. The saying should have been put the book under your pillow and learn by diffusion, but the correct phrase never caught on.

I’ve been working with the land for most of my life;
walking it and photographing it.
And I love it to bits.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

Today is Ash Wednesday. The beginning of Lent on the Christian Calendar. It is also Random Acts of Kindness Day. Perhaps for Lent this year instead of giving something up we should be committing to doing random Acts of Kindness and help others celebrate the good things in the world.

Then there is the question posed by Who Should I Be Day. I’ve found throughout my life so far the answer changes. As a child the answer is a Doctor, a Lawyer, or a Fireman. As you get older it morphs into a Postal Clerk, a Sister, a Wife, a Mother, an Aunt. Then when you retire, if you’re lucky enough perhaps a Grandmother, a Friend, an artist. But the most important thing is to keep working to become your best person. One step at a time and flexible enough to keep walking.

Yesterday was a snow day. We woke up to lots of fluffy snow. The plows were working overtime but still hadn’t gotten all of the main roads cleared. The school buses were canceled and Day Care was closed. So I got to spend the day with my grandchildren and they got to spend the day playing in the snow in Grandma’s backyard. We forgot about Pancake Tuesday and instead had pizza and salad for supper.
