No sailboat would sail without a motor, you never know if the the winds might stop and leave you on the lake. Same when your making plans, you always need a motor in case the winds aren’t pushing you in the direction you want to go.
Municipal Elections are rapidly approaching on October 24th in Ontario. Be certain to check out the candidates and exercise your democratic privilege to vote.
Remember the Cottagers who weren’t allowed to go to their properties during the pandemic? They have the right to vote wherever they own property. Yes, for Municipal elections you can vote in every Municipal Riding where you own property. So if you own 100 properties in 100 Municipal ridings you can vote 100 times, once in each riding. I hope they use the right and vote the incumbents out. Cottagers are already penalized for being “outsiders” by higher taxes and licensing fees. Cottager owners need to use their voting rights and say no more to being outsiders. Attend the local meetings and voice opinions about property access, taxes and fees. Why does a cottage cost $4,000 to rent for a week? Because the licensing fees are $2,000 or more and the taxes are more than $5,000.
Do your homework and vote.
