Memory is often less about the truth
than about what we want it to be.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

During this Holy Time we are remembering the 9th Day of Ramadan for Muslims and the 40th Day of Lent for Christians. The 40th Day of Lent is also Palm Sunday for Christians to remember when Jesus entered the City as a King, loved by all, on an Ass, the same way his Mother Mary had arrived to Bethlehem for his birth.

Palm Sunday

Today is also National Siblings Day. I’m lucky enough to get along with all of my younger sisters, but wish they would set aside their differences and enjoy being together again.

Only a memory of being together as sisters on Sibling Day.

Might as well have a Cinnamon Crescent and a coffee on National Cinnamon Crescent Day.

Actually, I think I’ll go kayaking at Kings Landing in Florida. A 2 hour guided tour with all equipment supplied through the crystal clear waters and wilderness of the Florida interior.

The more we do, the more we can do.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

So with many things the more we do, the more we can do. So go for a walk. Slow down the aging process by doing a puzzle or just talking with others. Travel as much as you can as soon as you can so it becomes a part of a routine ingrained in your life and dreams. Practice makes perfect. That’s why so many golfers are out there on a regular basis swinging away. So if you’re a golfer celebrate Golfer’s Day.

Today is also National Siblings Day. Like most families, two of my sisters have recently stopped talking to each other and disowned each other. It breaks my heart. I love both of them. So here’s a quick prayer for all the siblings that don’t talk to each other: may you reconcile and share your time together while you can. Celebrate National Siblings Day by reaching out to your siblings and whenever possible spend time together.

It’s easy to celebrate National Hug Your Dog Day, I hug my dog every day. Rickie’s constant companionship has even been an important part of my life every since I adopted him more than 7 years ago. I rescued him, or should I say he rescued me, giving me incentive to go for long walks and forcing me to remember to play. We’ve both gotten a lot greyer in the last year.

The physician’s highest calling, his only calling,
is to make sick people healthy – to heal, as it is termed.

Easter Celebrations this year will be very different from previous years.  Although in Ontario, the Easter Bunny has been declared an essential service, families will remain in self isolation at home.  Extended families won’t be able to go to traditional church services nor will they be able to get together for diner this long weekend.  Stores will be closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  On Easter Monday even tighter restrictions will be put in place and fewer businesses will be considered “essential services”.

Doctors must be under a lot of stress trying to heal all the people with COVID-19.  The world wide number are staggering.

Cases overview
United StatesUnited States
CanadaCanada (almost 10% of the total population of USA)

Canada has released the projection models and with control measures being maintained it is estimated that between 11,000-22,000 Canadians could die because of COVID-19.  This number could grow to over 300,000 if current social distancing measures are relaxed too soon or not followed.  Very sobering numbers.
