A real friend is one who walks in when
the rest of the world walks out.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

Prayer and fasting continues for Muslims celebrating the 6th day of Ramadan.

Today is World Health Day, eat well, exercise and take your vitamins. Be certain to get your 2nd booster as soon as you are eligible.

The garbage may need to be taken out, the floors swept or the dishes washed, but you have a good reason to let it be and read a good book. Today is National No Housework Day.

By contrast, today is my own private holiday that I always booked off of work as International Window Washing Day. A task to help me see the world more clearly but, can be interrupted by friends and family at any moment, bringing gifts and well wishes. As I turn 65 this year, my bridge pension payment is stopped and my life insurance begins to decline. I start the Old Age Pension and remember all of my friends and family that never had the blessing of growing old. My parents, who died at the ages of 43 and 63; my nursery roommate who has now missed 2 birthdays on earth; my favorite Aunts and Uncles; and even my Paternal Grandmother who died at 93. I’ll have a drink to celebrate one more journey around the sun.

Be certain to keep some coffee cade ready on National Coffee Cake Day just in case window washing is interrupted. 😉
