It’s a choice
– there are two different sorts of photographer:
those obsessed with the technicalities
and those obsessed by the subject.

NATIONAL FRANKENSTEIN FRIDAY (USA)

Victor Frankenstein the Doctor who created the infamous monster from human parts was himself a creation. Mary Shelley dove into her dreams to write the most terrific Gothic Novels stories that still are celebrated and remembered.

Great artists are often plagued with great obsessions, madness and evil. Famous for amazing fashion and people photography, Mario Testino became another victim of the Me Too movement when several of his subjects came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and abuse. 18 accusers have come forward since the 2018 allegations first came to the media. None of the allegations have gone to court, but the allegations will always taint Mario Testino’s name and leave a dark mark on fashion photography. It is far easier to just say no to nude photography than to risk loosing everything between the lines of art and pornography.

After having such a wonderful time at the baby shower for my niece we enjoyed a walk around the farm and visiting with their mare, Gwen. The children were thrilled to be so close to such a magnificent animal as Gwen stretched out over the fence for them to pet her.

National Chocolate Day – United States

During the COVID-19 Pandemic we are reminded of today’s quote. Wash your hands, wear a mask and keep your distance to prevent the spread.

Celebrate “Take me outside day” then follow-up with a hot chocolate. I’m looking forward to a walk with my sister and our dogs today. Although it’s cold outside (only 3C), it’s not raining or snowing.

My grandnephew was at my sister’s farm. He was absolutely fascinated by the old mare and she seemed to be equally in awe of him. So on opposite sides of a wire fence they stood on a perfect autumn day in a moment of mutual admiration.

National Pumpkin Day (Canada)

Lá Saoire i mí Dheireadh Fómhair (Ireland)

We celebrated National Pumpkin Day yesterday. We shared a wonderful slow-cooker roast beef and onions; with whipped potatoes, gravy, mixed vegetables (and chicken strips for my grandchildren). I learned that my future daughter-in-law doesn’t like cinnamon and my grandson doesn’t like apple pieces in his cake. My son brought 4 large pumpkins in after supper and we made jack-o-lanterns.
