Porte Musings:

Happy Birthday to my first Grandson, turning 11 today going on 40. Enjoy all the adventures life has to give you. ❤

While we were kayaking on the Old Ausable Channel the Cormorant in todays pictures swam beside my grandson and then climbed onto this branch to pose for us.

In the summer of 2020 the Ontario Government introduced hunting seasons for the Cormorants. Not based on science or the preservation of birds in Ontario, but because of a general fear that cormorants fish. I’m not against hunting for food but this is just killing for sport. Contact your local MPP and demand they stop this slaughter. There is no scientific proof that Cormorants are dangerous to the environment and no justification for the daily numbers of kill permitted. Porte Musings:

How appropriate that today is Grandparent’s Day. It is also my first grandson’s 10th Birthday. My miracle grandson. We had resigned ourselves to never being grandparents. We had beed told that our daughter-in-law was unable to conceive. Then surprise. She never thought she would get pregnant and the doctor told her not only was she pregnant, but she was 6 months pregnant. What a wonderful blessing. He continues to be our miracle grandson. He has an amazing sense of humour and intelligence combined with compassion and love.

Our miracle grandson.

Selichot

Aunt’s Day

Selichot or forgiveness prayers for the community and individuals.

The day after my first son’s birthday is his son’s birthday.  Luckily it’s a Saturday this year.  Due to COVID-19 we’re going to follow the tradition of cake at Grandma’s and Grandpa’s with the family.  Pulled Pork and buns for those who don’t eat beef and chicken strips for those who don’t eat pork.

School is finally starting next week, so we may not be able to see the grandchildren for a couple of weeks until we know if COVID-19 is in their schools.
