Be certain to sign your Organ Donor Card. Today is World Kidney Day. Kidney disease is a major fear for diabetics. The very things that allow them to live, in the long term causes the kidneys to fail. Although you can live with only one, once that one quits you are tied to a dialysis machine if no donors are available. My mother-in-law and one of my sister-in-laws died from kidney disease. Both were complications of diabetes. I have a daughter-in-law who has benefitted from a triple transplant: 2 kidneys and a pancreas. She is no longer diabetic, but will always take anti-rejection medications. My husband had one kidney removed due to cancer. Research into Kidney disease is important work to keep people we love alive.
Celebrate one of the first role playing game heroes. Today is Mario Day. I’m certain everyone knows Mario. That cute little Italian saving the princess, having adventures, throwing barrels, defeating evil and driving races.
