Porte Musings:

How the world has changed within my lifetime. When I was growing up everyone smoked. Except me. I waited until I was 20 before I tried smoking. Then I was hooked. 20 years later I finally quit. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. My mind went foggy. I couldn’t remember simple things like the combination to my supply cabinet. My patience wore thin. I walked around the outside of the plant. Bit by bit places became non-smoking. More and more people became non-smokers. Now finding a place to have a smoke is almost impossible. The second Wednesday in March is No Smoking Day. If you haven’t quit yet, just stop for one day.

On March 9, 1959 Barbie was introduced to the world. Now 63 she hasn’t aged a day. Still a voluptuous teenager. Old enough to drive, babysit, have a boy friend, be a big sister, fashion deva, be a princess and in recent years take on more traditionally male roles of doctor, mechanic….. As well as change her ethnicity. Today we celebrate Barbie Day and remember all the hours we spent with our friends creating clothes and our ideal teenage world.

Don’t forget today is Meatball Day. On top of spaghetti all covered with sauce sat my meatball….. That little ball of hamburger mixed with crackers, eggs and spices. Delightful with spaghetti or sweet and sour sauce. However you choose to eat them be certain to have a few today. 😉
