Don’t call the world dirty
because you forgot to clean your glasses.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

When I first read World Pulses Day, I thought it said World Pluses Day. Then when I read further I learned that Pulses are part of the legume family, including chickpeas, lentils, and dry peas and beans. These crops are important for food security, feeding the world.

I remember my Father purchasing a cribbage board with the rules. He and my mother poured over the small sheet of paper and learned how to play cribbage on the long winter days that he was unemployed. Although my Father could only read at a grade 2 level, he quickly learned all the ways to add up to 15 and 31. He learned every hand combination of sets and runs and how to count points. He believed it was important to count other’s points that they missed, or they wouldn’t learn how to count properly. So celebrate International Cribbage Day with a game or two.

With the countdown continuing to Valentine’s Day, today is Giving Hearts Day. So be certain to give to your local charities or pledge not only money but time to be given throughout the next year. Raise money for your local charities.
