Life is like a landscape.
~ Charles Lindbergh
You live in the midst of it
but can describe it only from
the vantage point of distance.

Rosa Parks Day is also known as the Day of Courage. Rosa Parks had the courage to not give up her bus seat in 1955. Interviews I’ve watched of her she later said she was tired. She had just finished working and was physically exhausted, so going against the rules she refused to give up her seat. Some states observe the Rosa Parks Day on her birthday, December 1, but I agree it should be on the historic day that one tired black woman decided to be courageous in the battle for equality.
Today is also World Cancer Day. A day when we mourn the loss of all of our loved ones from Cancer and strive for a cure. We’ve come a long way in the battle against cancer, but still it dominates our lives. I’m thankful that my husband has survived 2 major battles with cancer. The first time he lost a kidney. The second he lost a section of bowel and part of his stomach. Luckily surgery was the treatment in both cases and he didn’t have to undergo chemo or radiation. Early detection is still the best defence.
To all of those in the midst of a winter storm, today is National Homemade Soup Day. So get out the soup pot and slow cockers to make a wonderful daylong soup.
