Porte Musings:

Just by sitting and doing nothing today you are celebrating National Nothing Day.
And it’s a holiday to have a drink, Prohibition Remembrance Day. Intended to keep people from drinking, prohibition instead make millionaires out of bootleggers. Finally brought to an end, but many dry townships remained in Canada until the 1980’s. I was actually caught in a raid at the Mount Brydges Fair in 1975. The Legion previously held the fair and were able to serve beer. In 1975 the fair was moved to the arena and another service club tried to have a beer tent. Unbeknown to the attendees they didn’t have the proper licenses. The police came, confiscated the beer and fined the service group, and sent the attendees on their way. Now, in the same town you can buy alcohol at the corner store. Yep, I’ll drink to that. 😉
