Porte Musings:
Although a smile may be a universal welcome, my cat, Archie thinks it’s better to put you on guard with a scowl.
Tom Thumb Day is the Birthday of Charles Stratton. General Stratton was one of the first shows for P.T.Barnum’s Circus. Tom Thumb probably had a pituitary gland problem and although he was 9 lbs. 8 oz. at birth he never grew taller than 3’4″. If you have a chance watch the 2017 movie The Greatest Showman.
Today is also the day to remember blind reading: World Braille Day. The invention of Braille permitted blind people the joys of writing and reading.
We’re tired of Christmas and New Year’s indulgences and leftovers. Today is National Spaghetti Day.
On the 11th Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
11 pipers piping
Ten lords a-leaping
Nine ladies dancing
Eight maids a-milking
Seven swans a-swimming
Six geese a-laying
Five golden rings (five golden rings)
Four calling birds
Three French hens
Two turtle-doves
And a partridge in a pear tree
