As you get older making and keeping new friends seems to be harder to do. When I was young I met a girl around the corner from me. She instantly became my best friend and we did everything together until she graduated from high school and moved away. She was an amazing friend and companion for 12 years. I miss the ease and comfort of having such a close friend. Then I got married and have had a best friend for more than 42 years. Now entering our Golden Years together. So, as we celebrate New Friends Day, may we all find new friends as beloved and cherished as our old friends.
Hand in hand with remembering our old friends is Evaluate Your Life Day. There is no way to evaluate your life without including all your friends and family and love you have been lucky enough to have along the way.
So as we commemorate Information Overload Awareness Day, unplug from everything and maybe also celebrate International Gin and Tonic Day. I’ll drink to that (although it will probably be with a glass of cold water.) Or just do some “Nature bathing” on this sunny Autumn day.
