Everything that is made beautiful and fair and lovely is made for the eye of one who sees.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

Today is the first Day of the Federal Holiday for Truth and Reconciliation. A Federal Holiday to solomnly remember the injustesses to indigenous people in Canada. Commonly known as Orange Shirt Day, remembering how a little girl was forced to remove her orange shirt and conform to the school uniform. Remembering all the children that were forcably removed from the arms of their parents and family to be taken to be “civilized” – often to their deaths, hungry, cold and alone.

My heart breaks for the history of indigenous people in Canada. It is too big of a subject for me to even start to discuss. The loss of culture, language, family ties over 7 generations.

We bought our Orange T-shirts from Gunner’s Variety yesterday, then went to my husband’s band office to pick up a Muncee-Deleware flag to hang on our porch peak.

Even the trees are starting to don their colours of orange today.
