A garden requires patient labor and attention.~ Liberty Hyde Bailey (American – Scientist / March 15, 1858 – December 25, 1954)
Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions.
They thrive because someone expended effort on them.
Holidays and Celebrations:
- Ides of March
- National Brutus Day
- National Workplace Napping Day
- National Wellderly Day
- National Shoe the World Day
Almost 1/2 way through March, beware the Ides of March. We’re probably all aware of the famous quote to Caesar about the day his colleagues literally stabbed him in the back ending the tyranny of Caesar. But does anyone remember who took his place? It was Brutus, so enjoy National Brutus Day.
The Monday after Daylight Savings time begins is also known as: National Workplace Napping Day as we all struggle to catch-up on that hour’s sleep we lost during the weekend.
Today is also National Wellderly Day or should I say National Well Elderly Day. Who is old? Anyone more than 10 years older than you. The over 80 age group is still being vaccinated against COVID-19. Registration is online. And a new system was rolled out province wide today which is also online for the only age group that probably owns the least number of computers. Luckily volunteers are stepping up to help people register.
I recently watched a home renovation show where the home owner needed a place to store her 200 pairs of shoes. Who needs 200 pairs of shoes? In a world where more than 300 million people don’t have even 1 pair of shoes? So celebrate National Shoe the World Day, clean out your closets and donate shoes.
If gardens thrive due to care and attention, imagine what happens with children when you give them care and attention.
