Everybody else does work
~ Bill Cunningham (American – Photographer / March 13, 1929 – June 25, 2016)
– I have too much fun.
Holidays and Celebrations:
Porte Musings:
Like Bill Cunningham, photography isn’t work to me. It’s a passion that I like to indulge in on a regular basis. Walking with a camera in hand through a new to me area, attending family functions, walking in the park with a couple for engagement pictures, portraits in your back yard or taking real estate photos in a beautifully staged home…..
Just a few days after celebrating Barbie, we celebrate Ken Day. Ken the perfect boyfriend that goes with Barbie and her friends surfing, for a drive, on a date and always the perfect gentleman (without balls–lol). Luckily real life boyfriends also have real lives and do things beyond the limitations of their girlfriends. Male roles have been evolving since the 50’s as they now actively participate in child care and don’t have to “suck it up” when they feel like crying.
But, you can’t escape your history. Genealogy Day is a day to remember your roots. This has changed with the easy availability of DNA testing. Be careful if you decide to do one of the DNA testings. You may find you have more roots hidden than you want to know. My sisters and I confirmed we were sisters. While my husband found a 1/2 sister he didn’t know he had and now doesn’t know if he had a different biological father or if his father had more than the 8 children that grew up in my husband’s household.
Well, if you don’t want to celebrate either of those days you can always celebrate National Jewel Day. Go to your local Jewelry store and either just browse or buy yourself a pretty bauble. As I always say Jewelry will always fit.
Enjoy your weekend and indulge yourself. ❤
Your first paragraph reminds me of the saying, something like – “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Having a passion is a joy in life! Enjoy your day!

So true. I think that’s why so many performers and artists never really retire.
