Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Holidays and Celebrations:

Porte Musings:

January is now finished and we are so glad to great February. February has lots of celebrations and reasons to celebrate. It is notably Black History Month celebrated in North America. Beginning with National Freedom Day in the USA and the signing of the 13th amendment by Abraham Lincoln abolishing slavery.

February is also Heart Month with emphasis on heart health. And who can think of February without thinking of Valentine’s Day and love? All maters of the heart that are important for life.

But my favorite reason to celebrate in February is Spunky Old Broads’ Month. An entire month dedicated to celebrating women over 50 who don’t want to get old quietly, and “who are interested in living a regret-free life.”  Dedicating the first day of the month as Spunky Old Broads’ Day. The entire idea is a marketing ploy for businesses that cater to women over 50. And why not? Finally enough leisure time once the children have grown and work careers are established or retirement is looming ahead. Time to develop new hobbies, travel and enjoy life.
