Turkey Vultures are very social. They congregate at the highest point to dry their wings and warm their bodies. Our wonderful road kill clean up crew has had a significant resurgence in the past few years. The Roads Department has stopped taking the carcasses off the road for disposal so the vultures have an abundant supply of food. When in flight Turkey Vultures glide effortlessly on the air currents with their distinctive wing pattern. Huge ugly birds invoking fears of death as they circle to find carcasses. But as the Wildlife Conservation Commercial says even ugly animals need love.
