September 2nd is always a sad day for me. On Wednesday September 2nd, 1981 I talked with my Mother on the phone in the morning. It was raining so the call came to an end when my husband returned home from work in construction. I was 9 months pregnant with my first baby and had a doctor’s appointment for a check-up. At that appointment, my doctor told me that my Mother had died. It was inconceivable to me that the person I had been just talking to a couple of hours before had died. My heart still stands still on September 2nd in grief for my Mother who died too young at 43, only 9 days before her first grandchild was born.
