Modern technology is making it much easier to find the correct spelling of a word. I sit across from my husband and he talks into his phone: Hey google how do you spell……..
My youngest grandson hasn’t yet learned to ask google, but he gets the same result by asking his Dad how to spell a word. Auto-correct on almost all writing programs tells you when you get it wrong and often makes revisions with what the program thinks you want to say. So Duck off the pond gets switched to *uck off the pond, or visa versa.
