Mountain hikes instilled in me a life-long urge
to get to the top of any inviting summit or peak.

I believe the longer you keep active the longer you can keep doing things. My A1C’s are unfortunately staying at 6.8 for a year, so I’m now officially a diabetic. Although 6.8 for a diabetic on medication is an excellent number, for me it’s too high. I know the quick answer is to loose 20-30 pounds, but as you get older this is so much harder to do and I enjoy eating. As one lady I know (who has lost her sight and is unable to do the wonderful things she used to do) said: Eating remains a true pleasure when all else fails.
So having a label doesn’t really change anything except that I need to keep active and watch my diet. I don’t want to start taking the medications so I should start to work seriously on loosing weight.
