Reading is a means of thinking with another person’s mind;
it forces you to stretch your own.

National French Fry Day
(USA)
Sunday was a perfect July summer day. The heat wave was temporarily suspended. There was a light breeze and the Old Ausable Channel was flat. The rain from the previous day had washed the algae blooms to the bottom and the water was left crystal clear. Kayaking was the thing to do. It took me 2 hours to paddle to the far bridge, as I dawdled looking at everything. Luckily there weren’t too many other people who got up early. I counted 41 painted turtles sunning themselves on the logs. And I saw this little muskrat playing in the lilies. He was unafraid and almost swam right up to the kayak.
